The history of wirms

Centuries ago, wirms roamed the earth freely. They coexisted more or less peacefully with humans, and there were many more wirms that were not part of a colony. This was up until humans decided that they wanted the earth to themselves. They caused all wirms to go into hiding, and the wirms gradually got a lot better at hiding their colonies. Partially with magic, partially using trial and error and passing down the knowledge they acquire. The last time a wirm was seen outside of captivity, until recently, was in 1854. In the mid 1960s, the Illfelder Importing Company sought out and abducted colonies of wirms in order to selectively breed them for bright, solid colours and sell them to children, in the guise of a toy, under the name Squirmles. The wirms did not like this at all, but they eventually gave up fighting and trying to escape. Hiya! Webador isn't very easy to put secrets in your website with, so this is how I'm doing it for now.

Wirms now tend to stick to their colonies, even more so after what they call, roughly translated, "The Great Hide". It was a major turning point for the mobility and freedom of their society and individuals. Go here to learn more about wirm society.
